A4F Role
- Microalgae cultivation in urban wastewater is an effective solution for advanced N and P removal. The grown microalgae biomass should not be seen as a by-product but as a biogenic resource that must be recovered and valorized. In FLEXBY, microalgae biomass cultivated in urban secondary effluent is tested as a feedstock for biofuels production in FLEXBY process. A4F will optimize the algae-based wastewater treatment in order to cope with treatment goals while promoting the growth of biomass suited for biofuel production.
